Documentary Ideas

Idea 1

My Aunt Denise is an ex coach for the USA Paralympic Volleyball team. So I thought she would be a cool person to interview. She use to travel all over the world every year and she always had awesome stories to tell from her trips. She has been to Africa, China, Alaska, Japan, and many other places as well. However, she had to retire to take care of my Grandma and now she works with Notre Dame.

Idea 2

I have another Aunt, her name is Debbie, she works at Memorial Hospital as an intensive care Nurse. I don't know much about Nursing but I've seen some weird things while watching TV about doctor shows. I know real life isn't like Television shows where content is over dramatized but still I bet my Aunt would have some pretty cool stories.

Idea 3

And the last person I thought of is my mom. She has been working at 1st Source Bank for the past 36 years. My mom has many stories from her time working there, for instance; during the afternoon a guy came in and tried to rob the bank. When he tried to make an escape blue dye exploded inside the bag making the stolen money unusable. That's just one of the many interesting stories my mom has to tell.

Music Video Pitch/Idea/Plot/Thing

I'm posting it here because the plot keeps changing on me. This is the third time I've edited the plot. Which is why I didn't hand it in during class. Here's the latest version.

  •        One day the wacky pirates see a mysterious box in the distance, but once they get there the box is nearly empty. But have no fear for a treasure map was left behind in the bottom of the box. So begins their quest for honor, glory, aaaaaand..................

  •        While following the map they fall into a bathtub full of water where they meet a starving shark. The pirates jump onto a rubber ducky and speed away. The shark swims after them and tries to swallow them up. The loony pirates escape the maws of death by draining all the water from the bathtub and clambering up the sides to safety.

  •        During their adventure they come across a dancing rainbow flamingo. (If I can find the puppet, if not then we'll replace it with another puppet). This flamingo has an eye for gold. So when she sees their map she creates a cunning plan. The flamingo tries to distract them by getting everyone to dance. Then while the pirates are distracted the flamingo tries to make off with their map but ultimately fails when they notice.

  •        Along their journey the treasure loving trio realize they've been wandering in circles for a long time. Once they see a friendly crocodile lounging in a garden they decide to ask for directions. The crocodile sees their map and decides he wants the treasure map for himself. Then the so called friendly crocodile attempts to gobble up the puppet pirates and steal the map. The crocodile fails epically and the sock pirates make their daring escape. (The crocodile will probably be replaced with a dragon.)

  •        While on their way to the next location on the map one of the pirates slips on a banana peal and face plants. When the clumsy pirate looks up he/she comes face to face with an angry monkey. The kung fu monkey accuses them of stealing his trove of bananas. Then chases the unfortunate pirates around the yard and unleashes the drunken fist on them.

  •        Out of no where a random ninja falls out of the sky. The over theatrical ninja attacks them with chop sticks and tries to steal their map. The ninja pulls off some fancy moves in front of them. One of the pirates is like “just no” and pulls out a cannon shooting the ninja. The ninja is then sent flying across the screen into the chest.

  •        After a crazy zany series of events the three pirates arrive at the “X” marked on the map. The pirates find the shovels randomly forming an “X” on the ground. The kooky pirates uncover the treasure and what do they find? But an entire trove of............ Waffles!

Emotion Video -- Tranquility

This video was pretty fun to make, however, I couldn't figure out how to pan and it drove me crazy for about an hour.
Now this song is stuck in my head, too.......... X_X  I'm going to be hearing it for the rest of the day, I just know it.

Emotion Video Idea -- Tranquility

Originally I was going to go with a much different idea, but then a few nights ago I saw a spider spinning a web. Then my new idea popped into my head and I rushed to my room to grab my camera. Then I took tons of pictures and recorded it while it spun its web.

Music Video Analysis -- Shatter Me

Shatter Me -- Lindsey Stirling -- featuring Lzzy Hale from Halestorm

The video is meant to inspire hope. It's about breaking free from life's restrictions. The video uses symbols to tell a narrative. It begins with the clockworker winding up the clockwork. Day in and day out the clockworker is stuck toiling away with the machinery. The violinist represents how trapped the clockworker feels. The video focuses on a ballerina with a violin stuck inside of a class crystal ball. To me the crystal ball is suppose to represent her prison and her music is her source of freedom. Whenever a light shines through the glass the dancer can see a glimpse of the outside world and she realizes their is more to life than what's inside her crystal prison. As the ballerina plays her music her glass prison gradually starts to crack and break till eventually her cage shatters and she gains her freedom.

I never noticed this before in videos until there was a class discussion on it and now that I'm actually paying attention for it in this music video, I see it. The eyes are almost always half way to 3/4 of the way up in a shot no matter the distance from the camera. During the sequence of the video many different shots are used. There are close ups, to mediums, and from full body shots of both characters at the beginning of the video to the long shot used at the end that show the mountains in the distance and the violinist in the center among the remains of her shattered crystal ball.

The video is timed with the music for example when the scenes change from shot to shot. Other great examples of this include; when the mirror shatters or when the violinist hits the crystal ball. However, this effect really stands out due to the violin rifts matching in time with the cracks appearing in the glass ball toward the end. There are also effects used to enhance the appearance of the beat further such as  zooming in and out, shaking the screen or flashing between the singer and violinist in quick succession. All these different effects put together causes the video to flow nicely.

Lighting is another technique used in this music video. It's used to set the tone or mood of the video. At the beginning only the dancer and crystal ball have colour while the backdrop is completely black. Darkness and fog surrounds the glass sphere giving an air of mystery to what lies beyond. The darkness contrasts with the lighter colours causing the ballerina, crystal ball, the cracks in the crystal ball, and the occasionally butterfly to draw in the viewer's attention. At the end of the video the crystal ball shatters entirely and all the colour the outside world was lacking suddenly appears. The colours become softer and warmer in comparison to the beginning where the colours were darker and colder. The softer and warmer appearance makes the ending feel alive.

Documentary Idea

Title: The Mystery of Stonehenge
Tag line: Travel to to the past where mysteries are unraveled and secrets revealed!

Concept: I wasn't quite sure what to do with this one. I don't really know any interesting people or places. So I was kind of at a loss at what to do and then today in my art history class the professor was talking about Stonehenge and then I was like "BING Idea!". Right there, it just poped into my head, just like that.

To make it possible we would need to find a big yard and we could use a bunch of boxes. We could paint the boxes grey and then stack them up to look like Stonehenge. This way it would be easy to move if we couldn't keep it there. Some one could dress up to look like an archaeologist and we could interview that person about Stonehenge. We could also have some one dress to look like a native of that time period, then we could pretend to travel to the past and finally interview that person.

Music Video Idea

Title: Marionette Rumble
Tag line: Glory, Honor, aaaaaaaaaaand WAFFLES!

Concept: A few years ago in Japanese class the professor had her students perform a skit in front of the entire class. The group I was in decided to create sock puppets. We looked like idiots but it was so much fun.
So for a music video I thought it would be fun to make a video about sock puppets in search of a great yet ridiculous treasure. It'll be something like; sock puppet space pirates vs sock puppet space cowboys hunting through the far reaches of the galaxy in search of the legendary waffle. Who will find it first?

Narrative Idea

Title: The Magnificent Magician
Tagline: Oh great looking glass on the wall who is the most magnificent Magician of them all?

Concept: I've always been fascinated by magic, especially in video games. So I thought it would be fun to make a story about a Wizard that fails at magic. However, no matter how many failures the Wizard has he/she never gives up.

Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Cassie VanDeWalle.
My Concentration is Graphic Design and my minor is Japanese. I don't really have much talent with video editing, back in High School I use to make music videos with Anime clips until the family computer crashed. I used windows movie maker and another program I can't remember the name of. That is the extent of my knowledge with video editing. But hey, I had a lot of fun with it.

I chose this picture because I adore animals. That's my dog, he is 15 years old. His name is Piki. There is a funny story behind his name and it goes a little like this..............

-- Once upon a time there was a little blonde girl who had a love of fluffy critters. One day she begged her parents for a puppy. She begged and begged til they finally caved in, because nobody can resist those puppy dog eyes. So they brought her home a cute little puppy. Then they made the terrible mistake of letting her name the fluffy canine. Now this girl's love of fluffy critters also extended to a certain trading card craze. A craze that hit her entire grade back in 5th. A craze that's still around today after all these years. A craze that focuses on little pocket monsters. So when she was given the chance to name her new friend, she christened him with the most amazing name ever! Now you might be able to guess who she named the unlucky puppy after. If you chose Ash's little electric rat, Pikachu, then you were right. From that moment on her parents would never again let her name another animal. --

I'm bit childish by nature, therefore, I tend to like little kid's movies. Mix that with my love for animals and it shouldn't be too surprising that my favorite movie is Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron. I also adore My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Which is funny cause I don't like horses. They are the one animal I don't really like. Oh Oh Oh Oh!!! I'm also a huge fan of the How to Train Your Dragon series!

My top 5 favorite shows are One Piece, Attack on Titan (which is weird because I loathe the main character with a burning passion), Avatar the last Airbender, Kim Possible, and My little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

My favorite book series of all time is Artemis Fowl. Back in 5th grade once a week my teacher would read a book or a few chapters to the class. Sometimes two or more classes would be merged together for this. One of the books the teacher read to us was the first book in the Artemis Fowl series. Ever since then I've loved that series. Everyone else got obsessed with Harry Potter and I was that one kid who got obsessed with Artemis Fowl.

Let's see...... I don't have a favorite video game, but I do have a favorite video game franchise. I'm definitely a Tales of fangirl. I can't help it. I could never get into the Final Fantasy series. But once I played Tales of Symphonia I was sold.

As for music. Hmmmmm............ Halestorm and Nickelback are hands down my favorite bands. I could listen to them all day.

I love drawing, it's one of my favorite pastimes. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, ever since I first picked up a pencil. I remember when I was really really little I would try to mimic my mom's cursive cause I thought it looked cool. When I got a little older, there was this one time my mom took her eyes off me for a while. I took markers and drew all over one of the walls because I wanted to make a mural like those people on TV. My mom wasn't too pleased when she saw it......... As I got older I never gave drawing up. I kept at it.

I really love animation. If I could make either a game, TV series, or a movie without any sort of restrictions it would definitely involve animation. Dragons too, cause dragons are awesome.

After I graduate I would really love to work with video games, animation, or designing. Working in any of those genres would be simply amazing.

Wow! I think this is the most I've written all year. Cool!
