Emotion Video -- Tranquility

This video was pretty fun to make, however, I couldn't figure out how to pan and it drove me crazy for about an hour.
Now this song is stuck in my head, too.......... X_X  I'm going to be hearing it for the rest of the day, I just know it.

  1. Amazing.. you could literally see the spider spinning his webs. Felt like the discovery channel

  5. i really liked the transitions between frames and i thought it was a unqiue idea to film a spider spinning a web. Very cool!

  6. Loved the shots of the spider with the strong light in the top right corner. The ending could have been a little bit smoother, but I thought the video was great other than that.

  7. I found it impressive just how close you were able to get the spider and still continue filming, other than a few camera quirks, it was a nice little tranquil film.

  8. I thought it was really cool but maybe could of been more intriguing if you found other angles around the spider. I know that nature doesn't always agree with us and this isn't always possible. I liked the music and how the spider was syncing to the music.

  9. I thought that you had some neat shots of the spider spinning his web, it would have been cool if you had made a time lapse with the footage and had him assembling his whole web in minutes. It got a little shaky in spots but it almost matched the music.

  10. I love how we can see the spider actually weaving his web together and how you had close ups fading in and out of the main video footage.

  11. I find it interesting that you chose a spider spinning a web as the subject for tranquility. It totally works, but many people are afraid of spiders. The editing and music helps drive the point home, and its a very interesting thing to watch. I would have liked to have seen some more shot variety, but overall the video is very successful.

  12. The colors in the video went well with the emotion, the music was also nice. The only thing that takes away from the peaceful emotion was the footage of the spider was sped up, which makes it seem not as tranquil.

  13. the fading in and out were well done and the close up helped draw the viewer in but the music seemed to up beat thou it went wit hit and that was cool and the shaking made it not perfect for the emostion

  14. The edit keeps great rhythm with the beat. You managed to create a lot of diversity in the edit by adding the dissolves, manipulating time and using superimpositions. I'm not sure that it is a good representation of tranquility, not because the subject is a spider but more because of all the energy you created in the cut. I would label this as energetic, tenacious or steadfast but not tranquil.

Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Cassie VanDeWalle.
My Concentration is Graphic Design and my minor is Japanese. I don't really have much talent with video editing, back in High School I use to make music videos with Anime clips until the family computer crashed. I used windows movie maker and another program I can't remember the name of. That is the extent of my knowledge with video editing. But hey, I had a lot of fun with it.

I chose this picture because I adore animals. That's my dog, he is 15 years old. His name is Piki. There is a funny story behind his name and it goes a little like this..............

-- Once upon a time there was a little blonde girl who had a love of fluffy critters. One day she begged her parents for a puppy. She begged and begged til they finally caved in, because nobody can resist those puppy dog eyes. So they brought her home a cute little puppy. Then they made the terrible mistake of letting her name the fluffy canine. Now this girl's love of fluffy critters also extended to a certain trading card craze. A craze that hit her entire grade back in 5th. A craze that's still around today after all these years. A craze that focuses on little pocket monsters. So when she was given the chance to name her new friend, she christened him with the most amazing name ever! Now you might be able to guess who she named the unlucky puppy after. If you chose Ash's little electric rat, Pikachu, then you were right. From that moment on her parents would never again let her name another animal. --

I'm bit childish by nature, therefore, I tend to like little kid's movies. Mix that with my love for animals and it shouldn't be too surprising that my favorite movie is Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron. I also adore My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Which is funny cause I don't like horses. They are the one animal I don't really like. Oh Oh Oh Oh!!! I'm also a huge fan of the How to Train Your Dragon series!

My top 5 favorite shows are One Piece, Attack on Titan (which is weird because I loathe the main character with a burning passion), Avatar the last Airbender, Kim Possible, and My little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

My favorite book series of all time is Artemis Fowl. Back in 5th grade once a week my teacher would read a book or a few chapters to the class. Sometimes two or more classes would be merged together for this. One of the books the teacher read to us was the first book in the Artemis Fowl series. Ever since then I've loved that series. Everyone else got obsessed with Harry Potter and I was that one kid who got obsessed with Artemis Fowl.

Let's see...... I don't have a favorite video game, but I do have a favorite video game franchise. I'm definitely a Tales of fangirl. I can't help it. I could never get into the Final Fantasy series. But once I played Tales of Symphonia I was sold.

As for music. Hmmmmm............ Halestorm and Nickelback are hands down my favorite bands. I could listen to them all day.

I love drawing, it's one of my favorite pastimes. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, ever since I first picked up a pencil. I remember when I was really really little I would try to mimic my mom's cursive cause I thought it looked cool. When I got a little older, there was this one time my mom took her eyes off me for a while. I took markers and drew all over one of the walls because I wanted to make a mural like those people on TV. My mom wasn't too pleased when she saw it......... As I got older I never gave drawing up. I kept at it.

I really love animation. If I could make either a game, TV series, or a movie without any sort of restrictions it would definitely involve animation. Dragons too, cause dragons are awesome.

After I graduate I would really love to work with video games, animation, or designing. Working in any of those genres would be simply amazing.

Wow! I think this is the most I've written all year. Cool!
